V & A Reading Rooms

The V&A Reading Rooms is a completely new concept. A stand alone, off-site bookshop, which also incorporates a wine bar.

A constantly changing range of over 1,000 titles is available, with new categories including biography, fiction and history, in addition to the V&A’s established strengths in design, fashion and art. Out of print, vintage and early editions are also for sale along with the V&A’s own list of over 120 art and design books.

Tower of London

Tower of London

The Tower of London is one of London's most popular and iconic tourist attractions. Built by William the Conquerer in the early 1080s the Towers role has been as a fortress, palace and prison.

Many people lost their heads in the Tower and the Prisoners exhibition looks at some of the Towers more infamous inmates including Anne Boleyn, Edward V, Guy Fawkes and Sir Thomas More. The Tower's history as a prison continued during the two world wars and still held executions.

The Design Museum

One of the world’s leading museums of design, fashion and architecture, the Design Museum has a constantly changing programme of exhibitions and regular events.
It was founded in 1989 and claims to be the first museum of modern design. In 2007 the museum was listed by the Times newspaper as number two in their top 5 museums of the year.

The Book Club

Tate Modern

Tate Modern

Tate Modern is an art gallery in the former Bankside Power Station. The place is worth a visit because of it's spectacular location and the size of Turbine Hall space.
The Tate Collection is on display on levels three and five of the building, while level four houses large temporary exhibitions and a small exhibition space on level two houses work by contemporary artists.
Friday and Saturday are opened-till-late days when gallery is open from 10 am. till 10 pm. The latest admission to the special exhibitions is at 9.15 pm. The is no entrance fee to see the Tate Collection, it is always free.

Royal Courts of Justice

The Royal Court

Located on the Strand is the England's primary civil court- the Royal Courts of Justice. Housed within a magnificent Gothic building, the courts handle many of the nation's most serious civil, libel and appeals cases. The building was the last Gothic revival building to be built in London and was designed by G E Street, it is thought that the strain of building such an enormous project led to Streets untimely death. Queen Victoria officially opened the Royal Courts of Justice in 1882.

It is one of the best places in London to have a cup of coffee: both single and a double shots are the same price - £1.35 which is one of the lowest prices for coffee in London.
