DrupalCon London Training - Don't Miss Out!

The Monday before the DrupalCon is dedicated to training. Croydon College, right next door to Fairfield Halls, will host special training events from some of the leading Drupal companies in Europe and the USA.

Training is offered at a much reduced rate compared to standard full day training offerings and it's a great opportunity to save on travel costs if you are attending DrupalCon already.

In are series of blog posts this week, we will be highlighting some of the unmissable training opportunities that you can still take advantage of.

I'm Leaving You: The Risks of Dumping Your Old CMS for Drupal and How to Manage Them

Presented by

In the old days, moving to Drupal often meant converting static pages or templates to Drupal nodes. Today, it is rare that we get to build a site from scratch. Reality is that most major Drupal projects are now migrations from other content management systems.

Taking on such a migration is not a trivial decision for an organization. There is a great deal of complexity in the reasons for migrating, but the decision is often not understood well amongst the various stakeholders.

Intended audience

This session is geared toward project managers and managers dealing with significant risk associated with migration from a legacy CMS platform to Drupal.

Questions answered by this session

How to set realistic expectations with stakeholders?

How to document an appropriate risk analysis and mitigation strategy in regards to a migration to Drupal?

You got "attitude" from legacy CMS users? Strategies on how to best deal with them.

Training Announced!

DrupalCon London is an amazing opportunity for everyone to develop their Drupal skills. Whether you are a newcomer or a seasoned site builder, there are training courses to suit all levels. What better way to start your week at DrupalCon than with an intensive session on some excellent topics. These sessions have limited seats, so register today.

As most of the leading Drupal companies come together for DrupalCon we are able to offer training from the very best in the community all in one place - and at a much reduced price than would usually be available.

Price isn't the only factor - this is a unique opportunity to be trained by the companies behind the modules you are using every day. Acquia, Commerce Guys, Lullabot, Phase 2 and Chapter Three are some of the companies offering training. Many of these do not usually offer mainstream training outside of the USA.

The Drupal marketplace in the UK and Europe is currently in a negative unemployment situation - there are more opportunities available than there are skilled developers to fill them. Make the most of the opportunity to acquire the specialist knowledge that will set you apart from the rest.

Training takes place all day on Monday 22nd August - the day before DrupalCon London gets into full swing. You can book a place on any of the full day courses right now with prices starting at £150. This subsidised rate could save you at least 50% compared to an average professional Drupal training day. Take a look at the courses on offer - remember places are limited so book now!

How we selected these courses

To get the best crop of training for DrupalCon London, we promoted the training announcement as widely as we could for DrupalCon. We received 47 submissions, which we were quite pleased about! However, this did make selection more difficult.

The Review Process

For those that were not chosen, please trust us when we say it was hard...

Wow! 46 training proposals

We were bowled over by the training proposals submitted for Drupal Con.

Diana Dupuis tested the new process and estimates it will take each reviewer 20 minutes to review a proposal. With 3 reviews per proposal, we estimate a total of 46 hours to review all the proposals. That doesn't include writing to the submitters, getting contracts signed, prices negotiated, etc :)

I knew it was ambitious, but I didn't know how ambitious.

Propose a training session for DrupalCon!

We've got an ambitious deadline to get the training schedule announced by next week- and also establish a transparent selection process and rating criteria which can be used and developed in future DrupalCons.

We're looking for training proposals from experienced instructors who are knowledgable about Drupal and can provide a great learning experience for participants.

The call for training proposals is closing Friday, 8th of April, midnight GMT! Find out more about it here:
