Travelling In & Around London

Plan Your Drupal Holiday

London Places

Drupalgängers is the name of our program for companions to DrupalCon attendees. Although not attending DrupalCon, Drupalgangers will get to socialise with others and explore London.

During the London DrupalCon companions of attendees are invited to take part in group walks around London. Those walks are designed to cover the most spectacular parts of London and suitable for sunny and rainy days, people of all ages including kids. All Drupalgängers walks are free and many attractions there are free to enter and explore.

We are planning to have a meetup on the 22nd August where people will get a chance to meet each other and discuss what activities they prefer. From the 23rd to 25th we have planned walks suitable for people of all ages, including families. These cover many of the nicest parts of London that you might not see on a standard commercial tour - but we will see Big Ben and other attractions!

Opening Night Party

Drupalgängers are welcome to attend the Opening Night Party at the Proud 2 club in O2 Arena! In order to do so, they have to ask their registered partner to go to regonline, edit their registration and purchase a reception only ticket. Those tickets will be given to attendees together with other items at the registration desk at Fairfield Halls.

River Cruises

The river Thames is spectacular. If you haven't seen the Thames, you haven't seen London. Many attractive landmarks of the city can be seen from the river banks. Also, many riverboat tours are available during the summer - most running between Westminster and Greenwich, but some go as far as the Thames Barrier, Kew Gardens and Hampton Court. Different trips are available from different piers.

Hop-on/hop-off cruises

Thames Clipper is a local river service suitable for commuters. There are no guides on these boats. Thames Clippers depart and go between: London Eye Pier, Bankside Pier, London Bridge Pier, Canary Wharf Pier Greenwich and North Greenwich Piers. Single trip with an
Oyster card - £5 with a valid Travelcard- £3.70

City Cruises: available in many languages. Cruises depart frequently from Westminster Pier, London Eye Pier, Tower Pier and Greenwich Pier almost every day of the year. Prices range from £8 per adult (half-price for children, seniors and London Freedom Pass holders) to £33.50 for a super-value family ticket for 2 adults and up to 3 children traveling together. Adult return is £13 and multi-trip ticket is £13.50 Travelcard holders get 1/3 discount.

Circular Cruises

London Eye River Cruise: 40 minute circular sightseeing cruise with views of Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Tower Bridge and the Tower of London. Prices: Adult £12, Family of four £36. Combined with the ticket to London Eye - Adult £27, Family of four £82.98

There also some great speed boat trips - LondonRIBvoyages which cost £32 per adult. They are more like a roller coaster ride than a sightseeing tour.

All tickets are cheaper if booked online. There are some group discounts too.
